In the Viennese district Hietzing, the initiative "Together in the dementia friendly district Hietzing" was founded in 2017 in order to support people with dementia and their relatives who live in the district.

In 2017, a project was started in the town Mosonmagyaróvár in order to make it the first dementia friendly town in Hungary. This was after the town had started organising dementia cafés in 2015 and thus had a pioneering role within Hungary around the topic of dementia.

In 2016, the organisation Spominčica – Alzheimer Slovenija started a program where services of the public life, shops and health facilities were trained regarding the needs of people with dementia. In 2017, the first "DFS" was presented and many more followed since then.
