About us

ACCESS stands for Advancing Competence, Care and Expanding Skills. It is the goal of the website to do this in the area of dementia. The vision behind it was born in 2016, when a group of dementia experts joined forces to improve the care of people with dementia and their relatives in the Danube region and to maintain their quality of life. In 2018, this cooperation resulted in the INDEED project (Innovation for Dementia in the Danube Region) with 21 partners from various South-Eastern European countries, which was funded by the Danube Transnational Programme until the end of 2021. Within this framework, a series of educational materials for the professional groups involved in dementia care was developed. The follow-up project ACCESS Dementia, funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK), started in 2022 with the aim of making this knowledge available in six languages on a website. Behind this project are the Competence Center for Nonprofit Organizations and Social Entrepreneurship of the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), Deutsche Alzheimer Gesellschaft e.V. (German Alzheimer Society) and Klinikum rechts der Isar.

In an interactive and varied way, ACCESS Dementia conveys a person-centred understanding of dementia, emphasises interprofessional cooperation and stimulates entrepreneurial activities in the field of dementia. Start your journey of exploration into dementia with the "CAMPUS" chapter!
